But let's get real. While many innovations are great, they're not the silver bullet we might hope for to continue going as usual.

I have my doubts about some tech solutions as I am subtly hinting at with this image.

And the same could be said about our building sector. There's a wave of new tech promising to make buildings efficient without any real changes.

While some of these innovations are great for the quick actions we urgently need to fulfil current regulations, we must not forget that those requirements are only the stepping stones to our main goal: a carbon neutral built environment.

I sometimes feel that we get too caught up in the latest tech and miss that bigger picture.

The essence of sustainable solutions often lies in simplicity, embracing low-tech, passive building designs that ensure a minimal carbon footprint during retrofitting as well.
