There is no circular building - only the promise of it.

There is no circular building - only the promise of it. We just don’t know yet what will happen in the future. It's time to back up our promises.

What does a ‘circular building’ really mean in an industry, where our ‘products’ are in use for more than 50 years?

We must face that when we say circular what we should see in it is a promise and the commitment we make to a future that we can’t yet foresee.

But this is not to stop the enthusiasm... quite the opposite:

Let this unclear future challenge us to design and build with maximum flexibility, adaptability, and a deep awareness that what we create today must be able to change tomorrow.

Let’s future proof our buildings.

It’s about creating the best conditions for buildings to be able to adapt to future needs to be used as long as possible and ensuring that materials can be reused, and that structures can be repurposed or dismantled with minimal waste.

But this commitment is hollow without being backed up by robust business models. We need to consider 𝐰𝐡𝐨 will fulfil these promises, 𝐡𝐨𝐰 they will be achieved, and 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐬, when the time comes.

How have you backed up your circular promises?
