๐ Unlock Circular Economy Ideas with SCAMPER! ๐ฟ
Want to dive into circular business models for your company but feel stuck in your thinking by the ways that you currently do things?
Everyone keeps saying we have to "rethink" when it comes to Circular Economy, but how can we even start with that?
One thing to try: ๐บ๐ช๐จ๐ด๐ท๐ฌ๐น (*) - a brilliant technique for a structured idea generation that we can use to trigger rethinking and to envision sustainable solutions.
Each letter stands for a โtriggerโ to rethink your current methods and ways into something more sustainable.
It works best in a collaborative session with your team, so get together and ask yourself the following prompts:
๐ - ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐ญ๐ฎ๐ญ๐: Reevaluate your materials. Can you swap supplies for circular sourced alternatives or opt to use materials with smaller environmental footprint?
๐ - ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐๐ข๐ง๐: Think about merging your offerings. Can a product and service be integrated into a product-service system? Could you provide the function of your product rather than selling it outright? Examples include lease models, product maintenance, or performance contracts.
๐ - ๐๐๐๐ฉ๐ญ: Tweak old processes to use fewer resources and to make it easier to repair.
๐ - ๐๐จ๐๐ข๐๐ฒ: Can you modify your product to enhance its longevity or introduce modular designs for easy reuse?
๐ - ๐๐ฎ๐ญ ๐ญ๐จ ๐๐ง๐จ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ซ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐: What opportunities can you see to repurpose used products?
๐ - ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐๐ญ๐: Can you think about ways to streamline or simplify the product to eliminate wasteful processes?
๐ - ๐๐๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐ฌ๐: Flip the process chain. Once you found ways to close the loop and use the products at the end of their lifecycle as inputs again its time to think about the reverse logistics. What are the ways to get the resources back to you, what incentives are there for customers, etc. ?
Remember, SCAMPER isnโt just steps. Itโs a mindset - pushing boundaries for innovative, sustainable solutions. As the push for CE grows, such tools are gold.
